I want to personally thank you for visiting The specialminds Foundation website. Our primary mission is to develop, inform, and educate families and professionals about effective and affordable resources and programs for individuals with an autistic spectrum disorder.
Many organizations are raising money to fund research to find the cause and a cure for autism. Our goal is to provide information and resources that offer immediate assistance to families and professionals dealing with the everyday issues that come with a diagnosis of an autistic spectrum disorder.
I started the foundation as a way to help families avoid some of the trials and tribulations our family faced after learning our son had Asperger Syndrome. He was diagnosed at age five. While, at the time, there was information available that defined and provided insight into the disorder, there was very little that offered practical, day-to-day assistance. Even our school system looked to us for direction.
Through this website, we hope to provide useful information to the thousands of families, like ours, that are looking for help. If you know of programs or resources that you think others can benefit from, please send us an email with the information and we will post it on our site.
